Jay Holsten is a leading practitioner in antitrust and competition law in Canada, says Chambers Global
Torys, a blue-chip Toronto firm, offers a compact antitrust and competition team that was commended for its transactional might and lawyers who are “easy to deal with and technically skilled.”

Torys' expansion into the U.S. market enables it to offer a cross-border service to clients with the potential to surpass that offered by any of its competitors. The ability of the competition and antitrust group to handle litigation matters should also be noted and it can call on dispute resolution lawyers to handle competition-related matters when required.

In a survey by Chambers, peers say that Jay Holsten “positively grabs your attention right away with his opening remarks as he has a certain flair about him and says what he thinks.” In addition, commentators stressed that his “outgoing nature” should not be taken to detract from his “technical skill and focus.” In line with the firm’s strengths, he has a heavy M&A workload and also works closely with the team’s IP group in pharmaceutical industry issues.
