Jolie Siegel Chosen for Boston’s Future Leaders Class of 2007
Jolie M. Siegel, an attorney at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP, has been selected to participate in the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce’s 2007 Boston’s Future Leader’s Program. She is one of 72 young professionals from the business, nonprofit, and government communities who were chosen for this year’s program.

All the participants in the Boston Future Leader’s Program were nominated by members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors on the basis of their high potential for executive-level positions. They will participate in development programs over the next year at both Harvard Business School and Suffolk University Business School, and work with other Chamber board members and the Boston’s Future Leaders alumni network. This program aims to identify the leaders of tomorrow and enrich their professional experience as they advance to executive positions. It was founded in 2004 to further the Greater Boston Chamber’s commitment to drive economic growth and build a more inclusive business community.

“We are pleased that Jolie’s leadership potential has been recognized this way by the Chamber and the broader community,” said William Gelnaw and John Nadas, co-managing partners of Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP. “This is a great opportunity for her and one that she truly deserves.”

As an attorney in Choate’s Corporate Department, Ms. Siegel’s practice ranges from private equity transactions, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings, to representation of public and private companies on general corporate and securities matters, including counseling on corporate governance and securities law compliance. In addition to working with her clients, Ms. Siegel has served for many years as a coach and law firm coordinator for Citizen Schools 8th Grade Academy, a pro bono program through which attorneys work directly with Boston eighth grade students on persuasive writing skills.

Ms. Siegel received her JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2001 and her BA from the University of Pennsylvania, cum laude, in 1998. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.

King & Spalding Named a Top 100 Law Firm for Diversity for Third Year in a Row
King & Spalding, a leading international law firm, has been named for the third consecutive year to Multicultural Law magazine’s list of top 100 law firms for diversity. Rankings for 2007 are listed alphabetically. In last year’s survey, King & Spalding was ranked 16th in the nation for diversity.

When ranking firms, the magazine considers diversity of lawyers, use of mentoring programs and the leadership’s commitment to diversity. The survey was compiled from statistics from 2007 diversity surveys submitted to Multicultural Law magazine by more than 200 law firms.

King & Spalding has a long tradition of promoting greater diversity within the firm and throughout the legal profession. The firm was ranked third in the nation by Minority Law Journal for the highest number of African-American lawyers. Thirteen percent of its lawyers are minorities, 38 percent are women, and 20 percent of the members of King & Spalding’s policy committee, its governing body, are women.

“Our firm has committed significant time and resources to training and mentoring all of its lawyers, and we are continually expanding and refining our diversity plan with an eye towards ensuring that female and minority attorneys continue to succeed at King & Spalding,” said Lovita Tandy, partner and chair of King & Spalding’s diversity committee. “For me, as chair of the diversity committee, it is a great honor to have these accomplishments recognized by Multicultural Law magazine.”

About Multicultural Law
