Guide to World’s Leading Real Estate Lawyers Recognizes Missouri Attorney
Craig S. Biesterfeld, St. Louis partner of Blackwell Sanders, has been named to the 2007 Guide to the World’s Leading Real Estate Lawyers, a listing of pre-eminent real estate law practitioners around the world. This leading international guide, published by London-based Legal Media Group, a division of Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC, lists individuals who were nominated by in-house counsel and peer leaders in real estate law in 34 countries. Biesterfeld is the only Missouri practitioner listed.

Biesterfeld has more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate law and in land use development. He has handled real estate development, redevelopment, land use and zoning matters before jurisdictions throughout Missouri and Illinois. He is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (1996-2007), Who’s Who in American Law and Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers. He was also included in the 2004 Guide to the World’s Leading Real Estate Lawyers.

When first published in 1994, the Expert Guides were the first ever guides dedicated to leading individuals in the legal industry. Since then, Legal Media Group has continued to focus on individuals considered by clients and peers to be the best in their field.

The guides for each practice area are updated every two years. More than 4,000 questionnaires were sent to senior practitioners or in-house counsel involved in each practice area in more than 60 jurisdictions, asking them to nominate leading practitioners based on their work and reputation. The results are analyzed and screened for firm, network and alliance bias. The list of experts is then discussed and refined with advisers in legal centers worldwide.

11 McGuireWoods Lawyers Named “Super Lawyers” In L.A. Office
Eleven McGuireWoods’ lawyers have been named “Southern California Super Lawyers” in a recent study by Law & Politics magazine. The findings are published in the January 2007 edition of the publication’s Los Angeles magazine. The 11 McGuireWoods’ lawyers named represent 50 percent of the partners in the Los Angeles office.

As part of the selection process, Law & Politics magazine conducts a regional survey of lawyers who have been in practice for at least five years, asking them to nominate the best attorneys they've personally observed in action. In addition, the Law & Politics attorney-led research department reviews the nominees’ credentials based on a set of evaluation criteria, including confirmation of their license and any history of disciplinary action (which would remove them from consideration). To ensure a diverse and well-balanced list, the research staff considers factors such as firm size, practice area and geographic location.

The following McGuireWoods partners were named as Southern California Super Lawyers:

* Thomas L. Becket, real estate
* James C. Earle, construction/surety
* Richard S. Grant, business/corporate
* Sidney Kanazawa, business litigation
* Ian S. Landsberg, bankruptcy & creditor/debtor rights

* Colleen M. Regan, employment & labor
* Keith A. Sipprelle, employment & labor
