Ford & Harrison Ranked Nationally in Employment Litigation
Ford & Harrison LLP, a national labor and employment law firm, was ranked as a top 10 law firm in employment litigation by Employment Law 360. The survey featured the top law firms retained in the area of employment litigation for 2006. In addition, Ford & Harrison also ranked in the top 10 firms retained for discrimination lawsuits and wage/hour litigation cases.

Employment Law 360 is a newswire for labor and employment law professionals. The survey tracked the retention of the 300 largest law firms in the United States by practice area as well as major litigation trends emerging in 2006.

John Monroe, managing partner of the firm’s Atlanta office, was also featured in articles describing the survey results explaining why Ford & Harrison was often the choice for employers when defending a lawsuit:

Clark Hill attorneys Richard H. Chapman and Edward L. Filer will present “Current Mechanics’ Lien, Bond, and Credit-Related Developments” to the monthly meeting of the Electrical Distributors’ Credit Group of the National Association of Credit Management (NACM) Midwest chapter on March 13, 2007 at Magnum's Restaurant in Lombard, Illinois. Chapman and Filer are members in Clark Hill’s Chicago office.

The NACM is comprised of distributors of electrical products whose primary business is supplying products to contractors, construction companies and retail stores.

Richard H. Chapman is a member in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, and has more than 23 years as a business counselor and trial lawyer representing businesses of all types, including financial institutions, professional service providers, manufacturers and distributors in litigation in state and federal trial and appeals courts and bankruptcy courts, as well as in arbitration, throughout the United States. Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione Wins Best Large Law Firm Web Site Award

Robert K. Fergan Takes Leadership Roles at the State Bar of Michigan and American Bar Association
Robert K. Fergan, an attorney in the Ann Arbor, Michigan office of Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the U.S., was recently elected to the position of Chair-Elect of the State Bar of Michigan’s Young Lawyers Section.

In addition to his position as Chair-Elect, Mr. Fergan has been appointed to sit on the State Bar of Michigan’s Board of Commissioners for a three-year term. He was also recently appointed Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers Committee of the American Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Law Section.

Mr. Fergan concentrates his intellectual property practice in patent preparation and prosecution, both in the U.S. and internationally, and has prepared and prosecuted patents in the electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical and computer science arts, as well as patents related to business methods. He received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Kettering University (formerly known as General Motors Institute) and his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit.

Baker & McKenzie Boosts Capital Markets Capabilities with New Hire in Australia
Baker & McKenzie announced today that U.S. capital markets lawyer Andrew Reilly has joined the Firm’s Sydney office from Jones Day.

With 15 years experience as a U.S. corporate lawyer, Mr. Reilly is regarded as a leading U.S. debt and equity capital markets lawyer in Australia. As a partner at Jones Day, he co-founded that firm's Sydney office in 1997 and developed its U.S. capital markets practice in Australia. Mr. Reilly has represented Australian and New Zealand companies, underwriters and placements agents in more than 100 offerings of equity and debt securities.

"Having Andrew Reilly here to provide U.S. securities law advice on capital markets transactions is a huge plus for our clients," commented Steven Glanz, head of Baker & McKenzie's regional corporate practice. Kuntz to be Honored by Legal Aid Society
New York partner William Kuntz, II is being recognized by the Legal Aid Society of New York, as it honors former and current members of its Board of Directors, as part of its celebration of Black History Month in February.

Kuntz, a current Board member, will be among those honored on February 28 at a reception at the New York County Lawyers’ Association, which will be attended by Judith S. Kaye, Chief Judge of the State of New York Court of Appeals.

Gide Loyrette Nouel advises Cleaveland Asset Management in connection with the purchase of 47 office buildings:
The real estate asset management firm, Cleaveland Asset Management, has just completed the purchase of 47 buildings representing 75,000 m² of office space in greater Paris and elsewhere in France on behalf of a private investor.

The Archipel portfolio (31 buildings) was sold by a real estate investment company managed by Crédit Agricole Asset Management Real Estate and the Cyclades portfolio (16 buildings) was sold by several real estate investment companies managed by BNP Paribas REIM.

For both these transactions, the purchaser was advised by Gide Loyrette Nouel (partner Frédéric Nouel and Hugues Moreau).

The finance was provided by Eurohypo AG.
