Patrick Campbell Comments on Possible XM/Sirius Merger
Corporate/Communications and Technology partner Patrick Campbell was quoted in the February 21 HollywoodReporter.com article, "FCC is First Hurdle for XM, Sirius." The article notes that many people in the satellite industry are debating whether government regulators will let Sirius Satellite Radio and its competitor XM Satellite Radio merge. Patrick told the publication that the political makeup of the FCC could favor the merger, explaining that the FCC is made up of three Republicans and two Democrats, and it could come down to party lines. "Republicans on the FCC are more free-market-oriented, and the Democrats are more leery of mergers because of their potential to harm consumers," Campbell said, adding: "My prediction is they get this done, one way or another, even if it means getting creative." This article was also featured in AdWeek and BrandWeek magazines.
