Sinai's article gets national exposure
Kemp Klein shareholder and securities expert Stuart Sinai recently was asked by attorneys for Enron Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Skilling to file a motion on behalf of Skilling challenging the validity of the 10 “insider trading” counts contained in the federal indictment against him.

Skilling’s attorneys had already filed their own motion and that challenge was based partly upon Sinai’s 80 page law review article which had appeared in the Securities Regulation Law Journal in 2002.

Kemp Klein Attorneys Public Administrators in Wayne & Macomb Counties
Kemp Klein attorneys Alan May (Wayne County) and George J.A. Heitmanis (Macomb County) have been appointed Public Administrators. A Public Administrator is a lawyer in private practice appointed by the Michigan Attorney General, Public Administration Division, to represent the State and others as determined by the Probate Court in probate, trust, conservatorship, and guardianship matters.

Andruccioli Appointed Mediator in Wayne and Oakland Counties
Barbara Andruccioli has been appointed as a Mediator for Wayne and Oakland Counties. Since all probate and civil matters are now routinely ordered to mediation prior to trial, Andruccioli recently completed the training necessary to become a mediator with the Oakland County and Wayne County Circuit Courts and she is now on the approved mediator list.

Kemp Klein attorney Ray Morrow is also on the Oakland County approved list of Mediators (since its inception) and is, additionally, a case evaluator in Wayne and Oakland Counties.

Business Sales 101 Presented by Local Attorneys
The Small Business Forum held its recent meeting at the Birmingham Community House on January 31st. Ralph A. Castelli, Jr., Thomas J. O’Connor, and Norman Orr of Kemp Klein Law Firm were among the presenters who discussed a step by step approach to selling a business. The presenters, who included attorneys, bankers, and accountants, discussed the legal, financial and personal issues that often arise during a sale, as well as strategies to help sellers move smoothly from the beginning to the conclusion of a transaction.

The Small Business Forum is sponsored by the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and is specifically designed to create highly productive, time efficient and interesting learning and networking experiences. It is open to anyone who owns, or specializes in working with, closely-held businesses.
