Cox, Hodgman & Giarmarco Identified as a Leader in Oakland County’s Wireless Internet Project
Cox, Hodgman & Giarmarco, P.C., one of the premier, full-service law firms in the State of Michigan, is among the pioneers in the field of wireless technology. During his recent State of the County Address, Oakland County, Michigan Executive L. Brooks Patterson identified the mid-sized law firm as playing a “critical and supporting role” in helping the County achieve its aspiration to roll out the first county-wide wireless internet service in the United States.

The ambitious plan, titled “Wireless Oakland,” will bring free wireless internet to Oakland County’s 910 square miles. Installation in seven Phase One communities began in January; completion of the entire project will enable 1.2 million residents to access free wireless internet. MichTel Communications, LLC, leads the industry by being the creative force and operating partner of the wireless initiative.

The Cox, Hodgman & Giarmarco Wireless Oakland team is led by attorney Mark S. Papazian.

WENDEL, ROSEN, BLACK & DEAN LLP PARTNERS TO ADDRESS GLOBAL WARMING
To help combat global warming, representatives from large and small companies, including founding member Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP, will convene Mar. 1 at San Francisco City Hall to announce the formation of a new collaborative partnership and first-of-its-kind, business-led initiative – The Business Council on Climate Change (BC3) – which is dedicated to addressing this pressing environmental issue.
The event, featuring San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, a representative from the United Nations, and leaders from the Bay Area business community, will launch this unique partnership to specifically address businesses’ impact on global climate change. The UN Global Compact plans to showcase the BC3 internationally as an example to other companies and cities around the world as an innovative model for action that can be replicated and scaled.

The Bay Area Council, the San Francisco Department of the Environment and the United Nations Global Compact are the three co-sponsors of the BC3 and believe that businesses are ready to act on the problem of climate change. By joining BC3 and signing on to the five Principles on Climate Leadership, BC3 member companies pledge to address greenhouse gas emissions throughout their operations and corporate cultures. Member companies receive expert information on ways to reduce their emissions, gain recognition as community leaders, and participate in a Learning Forum to share best practices. The BC3 program seeks to make the San Francisco Bay Area a model of commercial climate stewardship by inspiring leadership on the pressing issue of climate change and giving business leaders the tools to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
