Ford & Harrison Expands Chicago Office - James F. Hendricks, Jr. Joins as Partner
Ford & Harrison LLP, a national labor and employment law firm, is pleased to announce that James F. Hendricks, Jr. has joined the firm as a partner in the firm’s new Chicago office. Mr. Hendricks previously served as the managing partner of Fisher & Phillips LLP’s office in Chicago. He will continue representing clients in the area of labor and employment law.

“We are extremely pleased that Jim is joining our team of lawyers in Chicago,” said Jim Salzman, Ford & Harrison’s Chicago Office Managing Partner. “His significant experience in the labor relations area as well as employment litigation will strengthen our office’s full range of labor, employment and employee benefits capabilities that we can offer to clients.”

Mr. Hendricks practices before the National Labor Relations Board and also has significant experience with collective bargaining and arbitrations. He defends employers in charges before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor and various state agencies. A large portion of his practice is devoted to assisting clients in maintaining a union-free atmosphere and positive employee relations programs and training. He has handled numerous employment litigation cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliatory discharge, wage and hour, and non-compete and restrictive covenant agreements.

“I am delighted to be joining Ford & Harrison’s Chicago office,” said Hendricks. “The firm’s extensive labor practice and its strong commitment to clients made it an attractive opportunity. In addition, my clients will benefit from the firm’s national reach and expanded services in immigration and benefits law.”

Mr. Hendricks received his law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, his masters degree from Loyola University and his undergraduate degree from Indiana University. He is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and is a member of the American Bar Association’s Practice and Procedure under the NLRA Committee.

Kimberly Bunting and Team Join Duane Morris in Atlanta
Duane Morris LLP is pleased to welcome Kimberly Bunting, formerly of the Bunting Legal Group, LLC, as a partner in its Atlanta office. Kimberly joins the firm's Corporate Practice Group with her colleagues from the Bunting Legal Group, special counsel Mona Maerz and Dale Bandy, associate Daniel McClendon, and paralegal Kathleen Reed.

Kimberly focuses her practice on a broad range of business transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, corporate contracts and real estate. She has experience in representing major global corporations, both in-house and as outside counsel for several Fortune 500 companies. She worked in-house at Georgia Pacific Corp., Blue Circle North America Inc. and Lafarge North America Inc., and as outside counsel for Lafarge, BlueLinx Corp. and Cumulus Media, Inc., the second largest radio station owner in the United States. Kimberly has been involved in large capital expansion contracts and complex global transactions, including logistics service agreements. She has extensive experience in risk management and has advised companies in the placement of billions of dollars of insurance coverage. Kimberly is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the German American Chamber of Commerce, and the International Association of Attorneys and Executives in Real Estate.

She is a 1986 graduate of Emory University School of Law and a graduate of Emory University (M.B.A.) and Oglethorpe University (B.A.).

Mona focuses her practice on general corporate counseling and mergers and acquisitions. She has participated in and led local, national and international acquisitions and divestitures, and assists her clients in a variety of industries, including media, food, chemical and construction, in all aspects of the acquisition process. Mona was in-house with Cumulus Media. Her deal experience ranges from $3 million private acquisitions to her work on a complex $4.6 billion deal, involving a spin-off of Flowers Foods from Flowers Industries to its shareholders, and Kellogg Company's simultaneous acquisition of Keebler Foods Co. through the merger of Flowers Industries with a wholly owned subsidiary of Kellogg Co. Mona earned her J.D. from the University of Passau in Germany in 1994, an LL.M. from the University of Georgia in 1997, and a J.D. from Georgia State University in 2000. She is fluent in German.

Dale focuses her practice on representing corporate, nonprofit and governmental clients in all aspects of corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions. She has counseled companies in numerous mergers and acquisitions, and has provided general corporate advice and services to large and closely held business clients on a full range of legal issues, including personnel matters, employment contracts, supply agreements, real estate transactions, shareholder relations, business planning, tax planning, 501(c)(3) regulation and nonprofit taxation. Dale is a 1996 graduate, with distinction, from Emory University School of Law and a graduate of the University of Central Florida.

Daniel focuses his practice on corporate legal matters, including contracts, asset purchase/sale and commercial real estate. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Toledo in 2006 and his B.S. from the University of Georgia in 2002.

CRAVATH NOMINATED FOR NINE IFLR AMERICAS AWARDS AND FOUR IFLR EUROPE AWARDS
Cravath has been nominated for nine IFLR Americas Awards and four IFLR Europe Awards. The nominations include Americas Law Firm of the Year, Americas Debt and Equity-Linked Team of the Year, Americas Equity Team of the Year, Americas M&A Team of the Year, and Europe Debt and Equity-Linked Team of the Year, as well as five Americas Deal of the Year nominations and three Europe Deal of the Year nominations.

CRAVATH REPRESENTS THE TENGELMANN GROUP IN A&P'S ACQUISITION OF PATHMARK
Cravath represented The Tengelmann Group in connection with the merger agreement in which The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P) will acquire Pathmark Stores, Inc. for $1.3 billion. Tengelmann is currently A&P’s majority shareholder and will remain the largest single shareholder of the combined entity. The lawyers involved in this matter are partners Philip A. Gelston and Sarkis Jebejian and associates Robert A. W. Pleasant and Christine Raglan. The deal was announced on March 5, 2007.

Clark Hill attorney Barbara A. Ruga will present at the 2007 Michigan Negotiators Spring Conference on March 15 in Lansing. Ruga will present, “Setting the Compass: Establishing Your Bargaining Timelines.”

Ruga has been practicing law for nearly 30 years in the areas of education, labor relations and employment law. She predominantly represents public school districts in a wide range of employment and school law matters, and frequently lectures to public school districts on employment matters.

Ruga has published several books and articles in the field of employment law, including articles in the Michigan Council of School Attorneys Newsletter. She was the co-editor and author of “Michigan Wrongful Discharge and Employment Discrimination,” (ICLE, 1990-1994) and “Wrongful Discharge Cases in Michigan,” (1984 and 1987 editions).

Ruga has been active locally on bar association committees, professional, charitable and local governmental projects.

Ruga earned her J.D. and B.A., cum laude, from the University of Michigan.

John P. Slagter Named Managing Partner of the Cleveland Office of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP
The law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP (“BDB”), is pleased to announce that John P. Slagter has been named Managing Partner of its Cleveland, Ohio office, effective immediately.

John Slagter is the former Real Estate & Construction Practice Group Chair and is a member of the Firm’s Board of Managers. His practice focuses in the areas of real estate, land use and zoning, and construction law. He represents real estate developers, builders, governmental entities in matters relating to the acquisition, development, use, and disposition of residential, commercial and industrial real estate. He serves as special legal counsel to Burton, Hinckley, and Richfield Townships.

Mr. Slagter serves on the Cleveland Bar Association’s Legal Fee Dispute Committee. He was the former chairman of the Governmental Law Subcommittee of the Ohio State Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Planning Association, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Home Builders Associations of Portage and Summit Counties and Cleveland Suburban Counties, in addition to having other various memberships. Mr. Slagter is the recipient of the “Associate Supplier of the Year Award” from the Home Builder’s Association of Portage and Summit counties for his volunteer work assisting the association with drafting their form contracts.

Mr. Slagter was recently recognized in Cincinnati Magazine as one of Ohio’s Super Lawyers™, as voted by his peers. He also has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America®. In addition, he has a Martindale-Hubbell rating of AV, which indicates very high to pre-eminent legal ability and very high ethical standards as established by confidential opinions from members of the Bar. Mr. Slagter graduated from John Carroll University (1988) and earned his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law (1991).
