Pennington Parter Selected As Super Lawyer
Pennington partner Mark Delegal has recently been awarded the status of “Super Lawyer “by Law & Politics magazine.

A special supplement to Law & Politics will be issued in June 2007 which lists the year's selections for Super Lawyers. Selections are originally researched by reviewing databases, online sources, national and local periodicals, and trade journals, as well as by contacting law firms for qualified candidates. Nominated attorneys are then narrowed down to those chosen as "Super Lawyers " by surveying 44,000 attorneys with the criteria of choosing the best lawyer they've personally observed in action. Capitol Federal Strategies, LLC
Daniel J. French today announced the formation of Capitol Federal Strategies, LLC, a new business entity he will lead that offers non-legal consulting services involving federal government relations, public relations, and federal lobbying for clients operating in New York State and elsewhere. Hiscock & Barclay, LLP will partner with French by providing office support and exposure to the firm’s growing list of clients in need of the specialized services offered by Capitol Federal Strategies.

As a registered federal lobbyist, French will utilize his long-term relationships with government, political and regulatory officials in Washington, D.C. and New York to assist clients. French joined the private sector in 2001 after serving as United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York. In that capacity he was the chief federal law enforcement officer for 32 of New York’s 62 counties, overseeing the work of 39 Assistant United States Attorneys located in Syracuse, Albany and Binghamton and serving over 3.5 million state residents. Before that, French served as Acting Deputy Staff Director to the United States Senate Committee on Finance, Executive Assistant to United States Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan and as a Professional Staff Member to the United States Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Court Bar Association of the Northern District of New York and an active member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Onondaga County Bar Association, and the Association of Former United States Attorneys.

“Hiscock & Barclay, a 180-attorney, regional law firm with offices in Albany, Boston Metro, Buffalo, New York, Rochester and Syracuse is affiliating itself with Capitol Federal Strategies in an effort to provide its clients with a trusted advisory firm in government and regulatory affairs,” stated John P. Langan, Managing Partner of Hiscock & Barclay.

“Partnering with a law firm that has substantial offices in every major upstate city and a growing list of Fortune 500 clients creates exciting possibilities for both entities,” said Daniel J. French, Principal of Capitol Federal Strategies.

French is also a partner in French-Alcott, PLLC, a law firm he established with Syracuse attorney Lee Alcott. The firm specializes in complex litigation and business counseling services. Alcott formerly managed the litigation department at a major Syracuse-based law firm.

“In addition to our government relations practices, I think the synergy between our two law practices will enable both of our firms to provide a greater range of legal services to existing and new clients,” French said.

Frilot Partridge Teams with DRI in a Rebuilding Project for New Orleans
On Saturday, March 10, 2007, DRI, a nationwide organization of civil defense lawyers, is teaming up with Habitat for Humanity and local law firms to help build houses in hurricane-ravaged areas of New Orleans.

The event will take place in conjunction with DRI’s Toxic Torts and Environmental Law Seminar, held March 8th and 9th, and participants will include top defense lawyers from across the nation. Buses will be taking the volunteers from the JW Marriott, where the seminar is located, to reconstruction sites including New Orleans’ upper 9th Ward, where many homes have suffered irreparable water and mold damage.

“This is a worthwhile addition to our seminar activities,” said Barbara Arras, Committee Chair of the Toxic Torts and Environmental Law Committee of DRI. “I think our members are eager to swap their legal pads and pens for hammers and nails to help this city’s residents, many of whom have faced numerous obstacles on their road to recovery from this tragic natural disaster.”

DRI will be joined by several local law firms in the reconstruction. Attorneys from the firms Phelps Dunbar, Irwin Fritchie, and Frilot Partridge will also be coming out to volunteer in the all-day rebuilding project. All three firms have attorneys who are DRI members.

“DRI is committed not only to serving the defense bar, but the residents and communities of those in our respective jurisdictions,” said John Kouris, Executive Director of DRI. “Since this year’s seminar is in New Orleans, it provides us a perfect opportunity to help those who have lost so much as a result of Hurricane Katrina.”

DRI — The Voice of the Defense Bar, is the national organization of more than 22,000 defense trial lawyers and corporate counsel. DRI provides numerous educational and informational resources to members and offers many opportunities for liaison among defense trial lawyers, Corporate America, and state and local defense organizations. DRI also has an international presence, seeking to enhance understanding of the law among members of the defense community who have reason to be concerned with the expanding globalization of litigation defense.
