Riker Danzig Welcomes George W. Crimmins III
Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti LLP is pleased to announce that George W. Crimmins III has become an associate with the firm.

George Crimmins, of Maplewood, practices in Riker Danzig's environmental group. He is experienced in providing legal advice regarding compliance with various federal and state environmental regulations, investigating suspected spills, coordinating investigative, remedial and public relations activities, and drafting and negotiating agreements with public and private claimants. He also has experience litigating complex environmental matters in state and federal court related to leaking underground storage tanks, including personal injury and property damage claims, as well as cost recovery and contribution claims under common law and state environmental cleanup laws.

Mr. Crimmins is a former Judicial Law Clerk to the Hon. Barbara A. Curran, J.S.C., and the Hon. Arthur N. D'Italia, A.J.S.C. He graduated from Fordham University School of Law in 2003 and received his B.S. with Honors in Business from Skidmore College in 1998. While pursuing his law degree, he was the Technology Editor for the Fordham Intellectual Property Law Journal, and he also received the Archibald Murray Award for Public Service. Prior to joining Riker Danzig, Mr. Crimmins was an associate with McCusker, Anselmi, Rosen, Carvelli & Walsh, P.A. of Chatham. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.

Simpson Thacher Represents Lehman Brothers, JPMorgan and Merrill Lynch & Co. in Connection with Covanta Holding Corporation’s Recapitalization
Simpson Thacher represented Lehman Brothers Inc., J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. and Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated in connection with Covanta Holding Corporation’s recapitalization. Covanta’s recapitalization consisted of (1) a refinancing of the existing credit facilities of its subsidiary with new credit facilities comprised of a $300 million revolving credit facility, a $320 million funded letter of credit facility and $680 million first lien term loan facility, (2) a public offering of approximately $144 million of Covanta’s common stock (including shares purchased pursuant to the underwriters’ exercise of their over-allotment option), (3) a public offering of approximately $491 million aggregate principal amount of 1.0% Senior Convertible Debentures due 2027 (including debentures purchased pursuant to the underwriters’ exercise of their over-allotment option), and (4) the repurchase of outstanding notes of Covanta’s subsidiaries of approximately $604 million in aggregate principal amount pursuant to tender offers and related consent solicitations. The common stock and convertible debentures offerings closed on January 31, the new credit facilities closed on February 9, and the tender offers closed on February 22.

Lehman Brothers Inc., J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. and Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated acted as joint book-running managers for the common stock and convertible debentures offerings, and their affiliates acted as agents and lenders under the new credit facilities. Lehman Brothers Inc. also acted as the exclusive dealer manager and solicitation agent for the tender offers and related consent solicitations.

Covanta is a New York Stock Exchange listed company engaging in waste disposal, energy services and specialty insurance through its subsidiaries.

Simpson Thacher Represents Wachovia in 3rd Largest NYSE-listed IPO in History, Largest Closed-End Fund Offering in U.S. History
The Firm is representing Wachovia Capital Markets, LLC, Citigroup Global Markets Inc., Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated, Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated, UBS Securities LLC and A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc., as co-leads of an underwriting syndicate, in the initial public offering of Eaton Vance Tax-Managed Global Diversified Equity Income Fund (NYSE: EXG), a closed end fund with a primary objective of providing current income and gains, and a secondary objective of capital appreciation. The offering raised $5.5 billion ($6.3 billion, assuming full exercise of the underwriters’ overallotment option). This deal marks the 3rd largest NYSE-listed IPO, NYSE’s largest initial public offering of 2007 year-to-date and the largest closed-end fund offering in U.S. history.

Sandra Gohn Named to Daily Record “Top 100 Women” List
Sandra Gohn, partner in DLA Piper’s Trusts and Estates practice in the Baltimore office, has been named to the Maryland Daily Record’s 2007 list of Maryland’s Top 100 Women, the firm has announced. This is the second time that Gohn has been named to the list.

Each year, The Daily Record recognizes successful female professionals who make an impact through their leadership, mentoring, and community service. Those who have been named to The Daily Record’s Top 100 Women list will be honored at an awards ceremony at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in May.

“We are proud that The Daily Record has again recognized Sandra’s continued commitment to both the legal profession and the Baltimore community,” said DLA Piper’s Baltimore Managing Partner Paul A. Tiburzi. “She is an extraordinary person and we all congratulate her on this well-deserved honor.”

Gohn focuses her practice on tax and estate planning for individuals, especially cross-generational transfers of start-up or family enterprises. She has extensive experience drafting wills and trusts, administering estates and trusts, preparing federal estate tax and individual and fiduciary income tax returns and in litigation surrounding will construction and other estate issues.

A frequent author on the subject of tax and estate planning, Gohn has also taught at the law schools at both the University of Maryland and University of Baltimore.

Gohn received a J.D., with honors, and an M.L.S. from the University of Maryland. She received a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.

Jones Day Fellow,Vicki Walcott-Edim, to Direct Appleseed Office in New York
Appleseed, one of the nation's largest pro bono networks, has hired Vicki Walcott-Edim as the Jones Day fellow to serve as the Director of National Appleseed's new regional office in New York. This is the result of the long-standing partnership between Appleseed and Jones Day.

Vicki will be responsible for developing and advancing Appleseed's pro bono efforts in New York, particularly in the area of public education. Her efforts will include collaborating on Appleseed’s Teacher/Principal Collective Bargaining Agreements project. While at Jones Day, Vicki was key on a collaborative project between Appleseed and Jones Day, a project involving the use of public-private partnerships to renovate public school facilities. In 2005, Vicki became a founding member and the chair of Appleseed's Isaac Newton Society, a group of attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their pro bono work for Appleseed and play an active role in advancing the organization's mission.

During Vicki's employment with Jones Day, she worked as an associate in the Firm's labor and employment group, representing employers on a wide range of employment and traditional labor issues in state and federal courts. Vicki graduated cum laude from The Catholic University's Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C. and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA.

Jones Day has a long history of providing pro bono assistance to Appleseed and will fund Vicki's position for one year.

Ross Stromberg Honored by the Bar Association of San Francisco
Ross Stromberg, Of Counsel in the San Francisco Office, has been selected to receive an Outstanding Volunteer in Public Service Award for 2006 by the Bar Association of San Francisco's Volunteer Legal Services Program.

Nearly 1,600 attorneys, paralegals, students, interpreters and social service professionals volunteered for The Bar Association of San Francisco's Volunteer Program projects last year. This Award is given to the top 10 percent of VLSP volunteers. Ross will be presented with an award at the annual Outstanding Volunteer Appreciation Party in March 2007.
