Arent Fox Announces 2007 Diversity Scholarship Recipients
"Arent Fox LLP is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2007 Diversity Scholarship.

Andre Gray, from Cornell Law School, and Shanelle Henry, from Georgetown University Law Center, will each receive a $15,000 scholarship along with a position in the 2007 Arent Fox summer associate program. Andre will join the summer program in New York and Shanelle will join the summer program in Washington, DC.

The Arent Fox diversity committee chose Andre and Shanelle for their academic excellence as well as their record of dedication to community service and leadership, where each has served as a role model to peers and as a mentor to youths.

In addition to Andre and Shanelle, the firm recognized four finalists with monetary awards and offers to join the summer program: Drew Stewart (Harvard), Olayemi Abayomi (UVA), Roberto Concepcion Jr. (GWU), and Charlin Lu (Stanford). Drew, Olayemi and Roberto will also join the firm this summer. We are proud to welcome each student to the Arent Fox team.

The scholarship program was introduced in 2006 for minority first-year law students as part of a larger effort to increase the firm’s diversity. This year, we received applications from hundreds of qualified students. The scholarship program is just one of the many initiatives put into action by the firm’s diversity committee, which includes attorneys from the highest levels of management, including the chairman, managing partner and members of the executive committee.

Minority law students represent approximately 50 percent of the 2007 and 2006 summer associate classes. In addition, approximately 25 percent of the 2006 lateral associate hires were minority attorneys. Arent Fox continues to make excellent strides in attracting top lawyers from diverse backgrounds and remains dedicated to this commitment."
