Overall Review: This firm is the worst I've worked with. Top heavy with ego which leaves little room for talent.

Only blue-eyed blondes need apply, as any Minority is a mere token or welcome to apply for support- or service-staff only.

Varnum overcharges and overbills, which is why their client-base is eroding. Shop around for better value for your dollar -- this firm's not worth your investment.

Overall Review: I once worked on a mammoth environmental clean up case where Varnum represented a co-defendant (one of many) and their attorneys were complete butt heads to all of the other defense attorneys. Every time we had a meeting of defense counsel (which was in itself a major logistical accomplishment and very expensive) to try to come up with a global settlement offer, it would inevitably get derailed because Varnum would not play ball. Eventually, all of the other defendants met without Varnum, reached a global settlement offer, which was accepted by the Plaintiff, and we left Varnum out in the cold to deal with the rest of the case by itself. Only then were they quite unhappy and wanted to get in on the deal. I wouldn't work for those pecker heads if my life depended on it. I'd be afraid of ruining my good name.

The Interview process: As a minority with an ethnic sounding name you may get an interview, but you'll feel like you are being used to help HR with their diversity obligations - you don't actually have a real shot at the job.

Overall Impression: They have a diversity board comprised of non-firm members to help them with their diversity goals. It made me concerned about the number of minorities within the firm as it seems that they couldn't recruit enough in-firm personnel to do the job.
