Matheson Ormsby Prentice has advised Arnotts on a €65 million investment by Brunner Limited in Art Holdings Limited, the new holding company for the Arnotts group. Corporate Finance partner Robert Heron advised Arnotts and its Chairman, Richard Nesbitt. Anglo Irish Bank Private Equity, which is a co-investor with Boundary in Brunner, was advised by corporate partner Liam Flynn of Matheson Ormsby Prentice.

Matheson Ormsby Prentice, which has advised Arnotts since the Nesbitt-led take private in 2003, is also advising the company on its flagship Northern Quarter development in Dublin, and has recently advised on the buyout of the O'Connor family minority interest. Arnotts operates the largest department store on the island of Ireland.

Matheson Ormsby Prentice is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicola Dunleavy as a partner in the firm’s Projects and Construction Group.

Nicola specialises in construction law and has advised on some of the largest Public Private Partnership (PPP) and infrastructure projects and claims in Ireland in recent years. Nicola’s expertise and experience will provide further depth and breadth to Matheson Ormsby Prentice’s already market-leading Projects and Construction practice.

The firm’s Projects and Construction Group has grown in the past year to 25 members (including five partners) and the extent of the group’s expertise is unrivalled in the Irish market. They have advised on a large number of the major PPP projects in 2007, including the National Conference Centre; Dublin Metro; Criminal Courts Complex; M3, M50 and M7/M8 Motorways; the N6; and Greystones Harbour. They are also advising on ground-breaking projects such as the Co-Location Hospitals Project; the Shannon LNG Project; the proposed development of Bremore Port; the re-financing of the Tynagh Power Plant and the development of the Single Electricity Market.

Michael O’Connor, Partner and Head of the firm’s Projects and Construction Group said: “We have a rapidly growing projects and construction practice doing high quality work across a range of sectors. The track record, experience and leadership skills that Nicola brings to our team will further consolidate our position in the market as a leading practice”.

Liam Quirke, Managing Partner of Matheson Ormsby Prentice said: “Talented people with relevant expertise are the surest route to competitive advantage. We are delighted that a lawyer of Nicola’s calibre has chosen to join us to further develop our Projects and Construction practice.”
