Gov. Cuomo Special Counsel Joins Perkins Coie
Summary: Perkins Coie added New York Governor’s Office Special Counsel Adam H. Schuman to their White Collar Group.
Perkins Coie made a big addition to their White Collar & Investigations practice group in New York. Highly experienced attorney Adam H. Schuman will join as a partner from the New York State Executive Chamber where he was Special Counsel for Public Integrity for Governor Andrew M. Cuomo.
Schuman has experience as a general counsel, federal prosecutor, law firm attorney and federal law clerk for a combined 25 years plus of experience. Some of his work has put him in the spotlight, such as when he served as lead prosecutor for a securities fraud and money laundering trial which was depicted in the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
Chair Markus Funk of Perkins Coie’s White Collar & Investigations practice said, “Adam is a highly respected and experienced litigator and trial attorney. His prosecution and high-stakes defense background, coupled with his in-house and public sector experience, is an ideal match with our culture of professional excellence. We are excited to have him on our team.”
Managing Partner Keith Miller of the New York office added, “Adam is admired by his peers nationally and in the New York legal market, and he brings an impressive list of credentials. As a former federal prosecutor, his addition complements the strategic growth of our New York office.”
His past experience includes serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, 12 years with McGraw-Hill/Standard & Poor’s as Executive Managing Partner and Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel for New York State Homes and Community Renewal, lawyer with Paul Weiss, lawyer with Corbin Silverman & Sanseverino, and as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Loretta A. Preska of the Southern District of New York.
He earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.A. from Swarthmore College.
