Clark Hill Attorney William B. Dunn Chosen as One of Top 10 "Super Lawyers" in Michigan
DETROIT, MI – Clark Hill Attorney William B. Dunn was chosen as one of Michigan’s Top 10 “Super Lawyers” in research conducted by Law & Politics Magazine. Dunn has been practicing law for more than 40 years, and is a highly recognized expert in the field of real estate law and related business matters.

Dunn was selected for this honor after an exhaustive peer review process in which only 5% of all submitted attorneys are chosen for listing in the “Super Lawyers” magazine. From that pool of attorneys, the top 10 in the state are selected by a blue ribbon panel of preeminent peers in their practice area.

Dunn is a member in Clark Hill’s Detroit office, where he is routinely involved in a broad spectrum of sophisticated real estate and commercial transactions. He works extensively in lending, workouts, leasing, acquisitions and sales as well as development activities, and represents a range of public and private clients. He is a frequent lecturer at national, regional and statewide programs and author on real estate transactions and on legal ethics.

In addition to the honor of being named in “Super Lawyers,” Dunn holds several professional distinctions, and has been repeatedly named to the Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA List of Leading Business Attorneys, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the Law, Who’s Who in the World, Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Real Estate Lawyers and the International Who's Who of Real Estate Lawyers.

Dunn is a member of several professional and invitation-only organizations, including the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, American College of Real Estate Lawyers (which he served as President), and the International Association of Attorneys and Executives in Corporate Real Estate.

In August 2005, Dunn was appointed chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility. He held two separate 3-year terms as a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility, and also served as a special advisor to the Committee for one year. Dunn previously served as chair of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law.

A Bankruptcy Success Story—Carraway Methodist Sold Free and Clear of Debt
Members of Bradley Arant’s Bankruptcy, Reorganization and Restructuring practice group recently completed the sale of Carraway Methodist Hospital out of Chapter 11. Carraway is a 100-year old institution with a distinguished history of medical innovation and excellence and service to the Birmingham community. Carraway is one of the first hospitals in the country to file Chapter 11 after the 2005 overhaul of the United States Bankruptcy Code, which included several new and untested requirements for health care bankruptcies. After a lengthy and complicated marketing and bidding process, Bradley Arant’s lawyers obtained bankruptcy court approval of the sale of the hospital to an investment group comprised of local doctors. As a result of the sale, Carraway is the only physician-owned hospital in the state and will operate free and clear of the debt that threatened to end Birmingham’s only remaining independent inner-city hospital.

McGuireWoods Named to Pro Bono Initiative Honor Roll
The Chicago office of McGuireWoods LLP has been named to the 2006 Pro Bono Initiative Honor Roll for its pro bono contributions. The firm will be recognized, along with other honorees, at a December 7 luncheon hosted by the Pro Bono Initiative, a joint project of the Chicago Bar Foundation and the Public Interest Law Initiative.

McGuireWoods’ partners Gary L. Starkman, Jeffrey E. Rogers and Paul D. Durbin oversee the Chicago office pro bono work. Starkman heads up the program with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Rogers oversees litigation matters and Durbin works with transactional matters.

In 2005, more than 6,700 hours were spent on pro bono work by more than 100 lawyers, paralegals and summer associates. Annually, close to 75 percent of lawyers in the Chicago office perform pro bono work.

“The commitment and dedication to pro bono work by our lawyers and legal support staff is inspiring,” says Richard T. Greenberg, managing partner for the firm’s Chicago office. “This past year, for example, we more than doubled the number of attorney hours on pro bono matters. The success of our program is due, in part, to our efforts to match the lawyers’ interests and skills to the needs in the community.
