Gray Plant Mooty Attorney Steven Young Reeves Named NAPABA President
The law firm of Gray Plant Mooty is pleased to announce that Steven Young Reeves was recently named President of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association - Minnesota Chapter (NAPABA-MN) . Reeves succeeds outgoing president Ngoc Nguyen.

Reeves is an associate at Gray Plant Mooty and a member of GPM’s Business Advisory Group. Reeves focuses on Entrepreneurial Services and Mergers and Acquisitions. He is highly involved in GPM’s minority recruitment efforts and diversity projects. Reeves received his bachelor’s degree, with distinction, from Cornell University, School of Hotel Administration in 1997 and earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2004.

Reeves said, “I plan to work with the NAPABA-MN Board in the upcoming year to bring the National Annual Convention to Minnesota, build a scholarship fund, and increase the visibility of NAPABA-MN’s membership.” The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association is the national voice for the Asian Pacific American legal community. Locally, NAPABA-MN promotes justice, equity and opportunity for Asian Pacific Americans; as well as fostering professional development, legal scholarship, advocacy and community involvement.

Florida Bar Recertifies Cecil L. Davis, Jr. as Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer
Cecil L. Davis, Jr., a shareholder with the law firm of Fowler White Boggs Banker, has been recertified by The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education as a Board Certified Civil Trial lawyer. Mr. Davis has been board certified since 1996.

Mr. Davis practices in Fowler White Boggs Banker’s General Trial Practice Group where he practices in all areas of insurance defense and insurance coverage litigation.

Terry S. Ford Elected to the Board Of Directors Of Easter Seals
Terry S. Ford, an associate with the law firm of Fowler White Boggs Banker, has been elected to the Tampa Bay Regional Board of Directors of Easter Seals Florida. Easter Seals provides services to children with disabilities and other special needs, and support to their families.

Mr. Ford practices in the firm’s General Trial Practice Group and concentrates his practice in the defense of all types of trial oriented litigation including, medical malpractice, trucking and transportation, automobile, premises liability and general liability claims.

Dickinson Wright Announces Chairs of IP Litigation Task Force
Dickinson Wright PLLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Jon Redway and Robert Kelly as co-chairs of its IP Litigation Task Force.

Jon Redway has substantial trial experience before courts throughout the United States in matters involving patents, copyrights (including software structure), theft of trade secrets, trade dress (product configuration, overall visual appearance, and color combination), trademarks, dilution and unfair competition. Mr. Redway is also experienced in Section 337 patent and trademark infringement proceedings before the International Trade Commission. Mr. Redway is a resident in the Firm's Washington, D.C., office.

Mr. Redway received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Roanoke College and his J.D. from the National Law Center at George Washington University.

Robert Kelly is part of the Firm's Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, office. Mr. Kelly has litigated numerous patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret matters for over 20 years. He is experienced in both bench trials and jury trials. He has extensive experience with Markman hearings and has served as a Federal Court Facilitator and Expert Witness in patent infringement actions.

Mr. Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Valparaiso University, a master’s degree in molecular biology from the University of Detroit Mercy and a J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.

The Task Force will rely heavily on Sam Littlepage, a resident in the firm's Washington, D.C., office, who is a nationally recognized expert in litigating trademark disputes.

Dickinson Wright now has 30 attorneys principally practicing in the areas of patent, trademark, copyright, technology licensing, IP litigation, Internet law and information technology, including a Member with a Ph.D. in pharmacology and a patent agent with a Ph.D. in biochemistry. Nine of the Firm's intellectual property attorneys also have in-house legal experience, thus providing additional client perspective to the timely delivery of exceptional legal services in the areas of patent, trademark, copyright and licensing.

Whitaker focuses his practice on complex domestic and international estate planning and related income tax, corporate and personal planning for high net worth individuals and multinational families. Whitaker is currently the U.S. Chair of the U.K.-based Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP) and a member of the STEP World Wide Council. Whitaker has lectured around the world and has written many articles on estate planning. In addition, he is the author of Estate Planning for Foreign Persons, Trusts and Assets and co-author of the “United States” section of Tolley’s Succession Laws.

Gallant focuses his practice on traditional trust and estate planning and administration, special needs and disabilities planning, same-sex couples planning, planning for incapacity, and all types of probate litigation. Gallant is currently chair of the Estates & Probate Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). Munck Butrus Adds J. Robert Arnett, Jamil N. Alibhai
The Dallas-based technology boutique of Munck Butrus, P.C., has added two more lawyers to its litigation team. New shareholders J. Robert Arnett II and Jamil N. Alibhai bring broad experience and impressive credentials to the firm.

“We’re extremely pleased to welcome these fine, seasoned attorneys to Munck Butrus,” says Bill Munck, chairman of the firm’s board of directors. “Their skills in the courtroom and in all facets of the law will be invaluable to us.”

Mr. Arnett has more than 20 years of experience in all aspects of civil litigation at trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts. He has represented businesses in the hospitality, real estate, construction, telecommunications and entertainment industries. Mr. Arnett also has extensive expertise in bankruptcy cases, and provides legal counsel to all types of clients, from individuals to publicly-traded Fortune 500™ companies.

Previously, Mr. Arnett was a founding partner of Dallas-based Arnett Gaubert, LLP. He served as law clerk to the Honorable Martin Pence, Senior U.S. District Judge for the District of Hawaii. Mr. Arnett earned his law degree from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law, where he was a member of Order of the Coif, and recipient of several American Jurisprudence awards. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Rice University in Houston, and is a former Marine Corps officer.

Mr. Alibhai is skilled in all facets of complex commercial litigation and appeals in state and federal courts across the country. He has aided many clients in litigation matters involving corporate and partnership disputes, as well as matters involving securities, taxes, lending, construction, insurance, bankruptcy and intellectual property.

Mr. Alibhai earned his law degree from the Southern Methodist University School of Law, where he was a William F. Hutchison Merit Scholar and graduated as a member of the Order of the Barristers. He also earned American Jurisprudence awards in Evidence and Trial Advocacy. Mr. Alibhai taught Trial Advocacy as an adjunct professor at the SMU law school. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from the New York University College of Arts and Science. Prior to joining Munck Butrus, Mr. Alibhai was a partner of Arnett Gaubert, LLP.

Munck Butrus Attorneys Named Texas Super Lawyers
Five attorneys from the Dallas office of Munck Butrus, P.C., have earned listings as 2006 Texas Super Lawyers.

The firm shareholders included in this select group are:

This is the fourth year Mr. Anderson and Mr. Munck have been named Super Lawyers, and the third year for Mr. Venglarik.

“We’ve always felt that the attorneys at our firm are among the best in Texas,” says Mr. Munck, co-founder of the firm. “To have that belief validated by our peers is a tremendous honor. It means that the lawyers we work with, and even against, recognize the good work we do for our clients.”

To compile the Super Lawyers list, more than 55,000 attorneys from across the state were asked to nominate the top lawyers in Texas. A blue ribbon panel of attorneys representing more than 50 practice areas assisted in the final selections, and less than 5 percent of Texas attorneys were named to the list.

The Super Lawyers list appears in the October 2006 issue of Texas Monthly magazine and in Texas Super Lawyers magazine, a publication co-produced by the publishers of Texas Monthly and Law & Politics Media Inc.

In addition to the firms’ Super Lawyers, Munck Butrus shareholder Cami Boyd and associates David M. Doyle and Bradley C. Mall were named Texas Rising Stars in the March 2006 issue of Texas Monthly magazine. This was the third year for all three attorneys to earn the honor.

Rising Stars are selected based on nominations by members of the Super Lawyers list. Rising Stars are the top up-and-coming Texas attorneys who are 40 or younger or have been in practice for fewer than 10 years.
