William H. Lamb Named President Judge of Pennsylvania Court of Judicial Discipline
William H. Lamb, former Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and Chairman of Lamb McErlane PC, was today unanimously voted President Judge of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Court of Judicial Discipline. The one-year term takes effect immediately.

“I’m honored to have been selected by my peers for this post,” said Lamb, who has served the Court of Judicial Discipline since his appointment by Governor Ed Rendell in August 2004. “It’s a way of staying involved in serving the Commonwealth. I’m looking forward to my tenure as President Judge.” The Court of Judicial Discipline was established in 1991 when the Pennsylvania constitution was amended, to deal with matters of discipline for judges and district justices in the Commonwealth. A matter before the Court may involve infractions related to either the judge’s professional or personal conduct. If the Judicial Conduct Board decides to file charges against a judge, the Court of Judicial Discipline hears the case. If found guilty, the defendant judge can file an appeal with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Justice Lamb was nominated to the post of Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in January 2003 by Governor Mark Schweiker to fill a vacancy created by the retirement of former Chief Justice Stephen A. Zappala. He returned to Lamb McErlane PC in January 2004, where he directs the firm’s Post-Trial and Appellate Advocacy Group. He is active on several state judicial committees in areas including medical malpractice mediation and alternative dispute resolution. Justice Lamb serves on the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts, an advisory board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and on the Pennsylvania Elections Reform Task Force. He is a graduate of Duke University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
