Frank Lloyd and Cameron Kerry to Participate on New England Cable Convention
Frank Lloyd and Cameron Kerry, Members of Mintz Levin's Washington, DC and Boston Offices will participate on the "Washington Update" Panel at the 2007 NECTA Convention on Thursday, July 19 at the Newport Marriott, RI.

The New England Cable & Telecommunications Association, Inc. (NECTA) is a six state regional trade association representing cable companies in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Cam is a member in the Litigation Section of the firm's Boston and Washington offices. He has represented cable industry and other communications clients before federal and state courts, the FCC, State regulatory bodies, and municipalities in litigation, rate regulation, franchising and renewal proceedings, as well as civil right

Frank, a member in the firm's Washington, DC office has argued communications cases before the FCC and the federal courts, and testified before Congress on communications legislation. He is Chairman of the Practising Law Institute's annual programs on Cable Television Law and co-author of the four-volume treatise, Telecommunications Regulation: Cable, Broadcasting, Satellite and the Internet, published by Matthew Bender.

LeBoeuf Lamb Advises TeliaSonera on MCT Acquisition
LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP has advised TeliaSonera AB, the leading telecommunications company in the Nordic and Baltic region, on its acquisition of MCT Corporation (MCT) for approximately US $300 million (approximately SEK 2 billion.).

TeliaSonera acquired 100 percent of the shares in MCT, a U.S. based company with majority controlling shareholdings in three Eurasian GSM operators in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and a small minority interest in the leading GSM operator in Afghanistan. The four GSM operators are:

Uzbek-American Joint Venture "Coscom" LLC, the third largest mobile operator in Uzbekistan,
CJSC Indigo-Tajikistan and
CJSC Joint Venture Somoncom. These two GSM operators combined form the second largest mobile operation in Tajikistan, and finally,
Telecom Development Company Afghanistan Limited (Roshan), the largest mobile operator in Afghanistan.

Brian Zimbler, a London-based partner who oversees the firm's practice in Central Asia, commented: "This transaction is further evidence of the strong investment activity in the region this year. In addition to telecoms, we are advising our clients as they pursue opportunities in natural resources, mining and a number of other industries."

The LeBoeuf Lamb team advising TeliaSonera was led by partners Charles Vandenburgh (New York / Hartford) and Brian Zimbler (Corporate, London), with key involvement from associate John Melly (Hartford), counsel Aset Shyngyssov (Almaty), and associate Klara Nurgazieva (Almaty).

LeBoeuf Lamb Advises Lundin Petroleum on Gazprom Option for Caspian Sea's Lagansky Block
LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP has advised Swedish independent energy company Lundin Petroleum AB on a call option arrangement with the Russian state-owned gas giant, JSC Gazprom.

Gazprom has acquired the option to purchase a 50 percent plus one share stake in a Lundin subsidiary which holds the licence to develop the Lagansky Block, located in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea.

The Lagansky Block has potential gas reserves which equate to more than the equivalent of 800 million barrels of oil.

The LeBoeuf Lamb team advising Lundin Petroleum included partner Brian Zimbler (Moscow/London), senior counsel Norair Babadjanian (Moscow/London), counsel Ilia Miniaev (Moscow) and associate Robert Cant (London).

Roberts Joins Armstrong Teasdale
Armstrong Teasdale is pleased to announce the hiring of up-and-coming real estate and entertainment attorney Jeanne Roberts, formerly with Gallop Johnson & Neuman LC. With a solid background in real estate and entertainment law, as well as having accumulated numerous professional awards and honors so early in her career, “Roberts will be a great asset to the clients of the firm,” says Timothy Tryniecki, who serves as the leader of the real estate practice.

Roberts’ practice includes the representation of various public and private entities in real estate transactions involving the acquisition, development, sale, exchange, financing and leasing of office, retail, multi-family, hotel and industrial properties. She also handles matters on behalf of both real estate developers and lenders involving the financing of commercial real estate, such as construction loans and permanent financing. In addition, Roberts has experience in drafting and negotiating commercial leases, residential and commercial sale contracts, easements, condominium declarations and subdivision indentures.

In regards to entertainment law, Roberts has represented recording artists, song writers, music producers, managers, actors, management companies and production companies. She has handled matters involving the production of motion pictures and providing advice regarding the music industry. In addition to the practice of law, Roberts is an on air TV personality.

In the past three years, Roberts has been honored in four St. Louis-area publications. She was a recipient for the St. Louis Business Journal’s class of 2005 30 Under 30 Award and received “Best Dressed” in the 2004 issue of St. Louis Magazine. Additionally, she was honored in “The Buzz List” in the 2006 issue of Alive Magazine and received the “Special Achievers Award” in the 2006 issue of the St. Louis Sentinel Newspaper.

Roberts is a member of The Missouri Bar, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and the American Bar Association where she serves on two committees: the Entertainment and Sports Industry Forum and the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section. She graduated cum laude and received her B.S. degree in Mathematics from Spelman College in 2001, and received her J.D. degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2004.
