FirstLawJob.com

Anyone out there in cyberland heard of this company.  They slipped a brochure under my hotel room door.  I went to the website, but I can find no reference to this company anywhere on the net other than on their own website.  Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I have a friend who used FirstLawJob.com and he got a job through them.  He said they specialize in recent law graduates and entry level attorney's.  That's all I know.  Good Luck

Thanks, daveyb!  At least I know they really exist - I could not find any information on this company other than what they had on their own website.

Wow, these posts weren't staged or anything. Nope, not at all.

I refuse to respond to that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

Hey novajd, I hope it's not too late, but I would advise against signing up with them.

I made the mistake of doing so, and the number one problem is lack of accountability.  They might be searching for you, but they never bother to prove it.  My counselor refused to speak with me over the phone and also would not reveal the places to which she had been applying.  This would have been nice to know so that i wouldn't be applying to the same places as she was allegedly contacting.  Needless to say, I felt ripped off.

My refund request was also rejected.  While you posted a while back, and may have signed up with them already, I hope this info helps others from falling into the same trap that I did.

Good luck on the search!

I strongly suspect firstlawjob.com is the same company as findlawjob.com except now using a different name.

I signed up with findlawjob.com in 2007. They did the same exact thing to me that aquacate describes - there was no accountability, they didn't produce what I had paid for and they never refunded my money when I asked. I had to dispute the charge through my credit card.

I would be very, very surprised if firstlawjob.com isn't the same exact company as findlawjob.com.

If you go to firstlawjob.com, notice the lack of detail on the site. It doesn't say where its founder went to law school, there is no address for the business anywhere, only standard email addresses such as info@firstlawjob.com. Those are red flags to me. I would strongly suggest not bothering with this.

By the way, if you want to read more about findlawjob.com, just plug it into google.com and you will find a lot of info about it. Here's an interesting thread I participated in back when I had trouble with them: http://tinyurl.com/findlawjob.

I don't think firstlawjob.com is the same as findlawjob.com.  From what I heard from my advisor findlawjob.com was afilliated with legal authority.

Not that I typically post on message boards, but I do have to defend firstlawjob.com they were very helpful when I was looking for employment when I got out of school.

I find the lack of information on firstlawjob.com's site to be suspect. It may not be the same site as findlawjob.com, but it's still a big red flag to me that there is no verifiable information on firstlawjob.com's site. The owner's name is mentioned, but not where he went to law school or when. There is no information on his background or experience in legal recruiting or anything else. There is no mailing address, just e-mail addresses for the business.

Those are all very suspicious to me. Real businesses typically do not have a problem supplying information about the founder/owner and usually have some kind of brick and mortar address listed on the page somewhere.
