WASHINGTON, D.C., January 30, 2006 – Hogan & Hartson L.L.P. announced today that Daniel F. Stenger, a highly-respected public utility and nuclear regulatory lawyer, has joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the energy practice group.

Stenger has more than 25 years of energy and project finance experience. He has represented electric utilities and other clients on matters before the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Department of Energy (DOE), and federal courts.

“Dan is a prominent nuclear regulatory lawyer who plays a key part in our ongoing plans to further develop a preeminent Nuclear Regulatory Commission practice,” said Kevin Lipson, director of the firm’s energy group. “Dan’s depth of knowledge and experience involving nuclear energy and transactions and public utility project finance matters will greatly serve our clients with energy regulatory needs. With Dan on our team, we now provide a significant alternative to the few firms who offer clients nuclear licensing and regulatory services. We are very happy to have him with us.”

Stenger has significant experience advising on the licensing and regulation of nuclear power reactors and nuclear facilities. In addition, he handles initial and renewal licensing for nuclear power plants and license transfer proceedings resulting from sales or acquisitions of nuclear power plants and utility mergers and acquisitions.

“I am excited to be a part of this growing practice area and to be working with such an impressive group of lawyers in this field,” said Stenger. “Hogan & Hartson’s commitment to broaden its nuclear regulatory capabilities will allow the firm to expand its services for companies in the nuclear energy arena.”

Stenger has provided advice on electric utility restructuring matters, including transactions involving nuclear generating assets and nuclear insurance matters, such as coverage under the Price-Anderson Act and international conventions on nuclear liability.

Before joining Hogan & Hartson, Stenger was a partner in the business and finance department and a member of the energy and project finance group in the Washington, D.C. office of another prominent law firm.

Stenger received his law degree with high honors from The George Washington University and his undergraduate degree in industrial management and economics, magna cum laude, from Purdue University.

The life of a lawyer is hardly happy-go-lucky. First, you are a human, and then, you are a lawyer. This simple fact continually fails in registering itself, while we are engrossed in doing our daily tasks and meeting deadlines. So stress keeps piling up, substance abuse becomes common, families break down, tripping up and getting caught in the web of professional misconduct, knowingly or unknowingly, is also quite common.
