Armstrong Teasdale Welcomes Illinois US Attorney to Their Team
Summary: U.S. Attorney for Southern Illinois, Stephen Wigginton, is joining the St. Louis office of Armstrong Teasdale.
Southern Illinois U.S Attorney Stephen R. Wigginton is stepping down to join law firm Armstrong Teasdale. Starting in January, Wigginton will no longer be the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois and will be joining the St. Louis office of the firm. Armstrong Teasdale has offices throughout the United States and China.
Wigginton’s practice will focus on large commercial class action lawsuits, qui tam cases, and complex litigation involving corporate malfeasance. Over 30 years of experience will ensure that he is a valuable asset to the firm in also representing municipalities, other government entities, and educational institutions.
Managing partner Michael A. Chivell stated, “We’re looking forward to the energy, unique experiences and expertise that Steve will bring to the firm in the new year. The litany of honors that he’s received in his time as a U.S. Attorney is indicative of his work ethic, dedication and personal character. This addition gives our Litigation practice an enhanced national scope and will broaden opportunities for the firm and our clients.”
Some of the mentioned honors that Wigginton has received include the “Olympian Award” from the Southern Illinois Police Chiefs Association and the “Extra Effort Award” from the Edwardsville School District.
Wigginton is a member of the Illinois and Missouri bar, trying cases in the Circuit Courts of both states as well as the Courts of Appeal and Illinois Supreme Court. He is admitted in several federal courts such as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois and the Eastern District of Missouri.
He earned his J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law and his B.S. from Southern Illinois University in Business.
